TS&T Provides ITS Solutions for the I-895 Canton Viaduct Bridge Replacement

April 23, 2019

Traffic Systems & Technology has been working with contractors and engineering firms to provide ITS solutions for the new Canton Viaduct bridge in Baltimore, MD. The project requires a replacement bridge and to keep all roadside devices working properly throughout the process. TS&T will be working to provide an automated Over Height Vehicle Detection System, Lane Control Signs, and cameras to ensure the new bridge will be ready for the high traffic demands of I-895.

An important device to keep functioning throughout the process is the video surveillance of which a snapshot from an on-site camera is shown to the left. This camera, manufactured by CohuHD, will help the MDTA to manage the project and ensure traffic is moving smoothly through the construction zones.

While construction work on the Arlington Memorial Bridge between Virginia and Washington, D.C. continues for the next few years, lane control sign (LCS) systems are necessary to control the flow of traffic into D.C. in the morning and out in the evening to coincide with the heavy traffic that comes at rush hour. The system consists of 24 LCS's mounted across four gantries that gives lane indication at both ends of the bridge and at two points evenly spaced along the bridge to provide guidance to drivers. TS&T and SESA were able to provide the system in its entirety within 6 months from design inception.

July 14, 2017

City of Virginia Beach: Sandbridge Rd 80’ Mast Arm Installation.

"It was good to finally meet the two of you several weeks ago at the skull session TS@T sponsored and to finally put names with faces.  I just thought you both might be interested in knowing and seeing that we finally got that 80-ft mast arm you helped us out on up and running late yesterday and everyone seems really happy with it.

Hope all is well  and we look forward to continuing to do business with you and the rest of the TS@T crew.

Thanks again for all the assistance with this project."

Tuscola JROTC installs new flagpoles at school

June 07, 2017

Over the last year, Tuscola High School has been working to install new flagpoles at the memorial garden in front of D Building. The existing flagpole by A Building was in need of repairs and predates the awnings, where it’s surrounded by trees and makes viewing the flag difficult.

Tuscola Air Force JROTC instructor, Senior Master Sgt. Steve Robertson, worked with community members who donated materials. The project began with discussions from members of the Western North Carolina Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)’s local chapter.

Not long after initial talks, MOAA found the primary donor in Virginia — Randy Dominick, owner of Traffic Systems and Technology, became very interested in the project and not only donated three aluminum poles, but also paid for shipping.

Dominick is a former U.S. Marine whose only request was to receive a photograph of the Tuscola JROTC near the completed project.

A WILSONVILLE COMPANY'S QUEST TO KEEP THE (TRAFFIC) LIGHTS ON

March 03, 2015

A Wilsonville company is solving a problem that only traffic engineers can appreciate: How to keep traffic lights on in a power outage without introducing hazardous lead-acid batteries to intersections.

Blue Earth Energy Power Solutions is a tech company that has developed a lead-acid free battery system designed to work inside the electrical cabinets that power traffic signals at intersections, railroad crossings, freeway on-ramps and more.

BlueEarth's UPStealth® product, based on nickel zinc technology, is used by more than 35 agencies in the U.S. and Canada. Now, it's getting a field test in its home state. After being deployed in Hillsboro a year ago, its technology is getting a key tryout at the Eastern Oregon junction city of Biggs.
